"Evening Tide" - 24" x 18" Oil
Here is my latest oil painting that I just finished yesterday. Since the beginning of summer, I have been working on building a new series of paintings on lighthouses. This is the third one in the series that I have painted so far. None of the lighthouses are specified locations. Instead, they are generic and are imagery places that could be anywhere in the world.
What inspired me to paint this subject is my interest in the structures and wanting to hone my skills with painting water. For this painting, I chose do a sunset, using a combination of warm colors (yellows, reds, and oranges) with the complimentary opposites of purple, green, and blue. The painting is also a vertical composition, which is little more unusual than the horizontal format that I typically do, but it the proportions of the lighthouse worked out better using a vertical format for this painting.

Also, I will be participating in a show with the Artists of Texas at The Dutch Art Gallery, starting in November and running through the end of the year. The reception date is scheduled for Saturday, November 5th. More information and details forthcoming. I look forward to seeing all the great work that everyone has created for this show.
