This new painting is inspired from the colorful landscape in my area.  The vibrant colors of fall and shadows of the trees are what caught my eye. The hard surface of the ampersand board provides a nice surface to build up texture using  the palette knife.

Our fall weather has been a roller coaster of temperatures. I try to take advantage of the warmer days and get out and paint. My friend Jill and I went to one or our favorite locations and captured the fall colors. Comanche Peak is the highest point around here and provides plenty of painting opportunities.

I recently visited Lake Texoma and took my kayak. I took it out in the early morning to take advantage of mild conditions. The heron birds were nesting all around and would take off as I approached the shore.  Its was a great time to disconnect and enjoy the scenery.

When you see fields and fields of white flowers you pull over to snap a few photos. They bloom in late August and are a sign cooler weather is on the way. It is the same with milkweed and purple thistle flowers. I read this from my former biology teacher's post recently.  I didn't know this and will pay closer attention next year.

I created this during the Good Art Company Plein Air event in Fredericksburg this week. We stayed at Barons Creekside. The cabins are each very unique and developed with recycled windows, doors and furnishings.  The creek runs through the middle of the cabins and provided great views. . It was a joy to paint along the sounds of the flowing water and gentle breeze.

This painting evolved from a couple of field studies from the master garden in Granbury. I stirred in a few twist and turns in the small creek leading the eye thru the scene. It was a fun exercise in letting go of the reality and going with a dreamy sunrise.

I created this after visiting the Ft Worth Botanical Gardens. The Black-eyed Susans were the star of the garden. They were hugging the path and seemed to be 5 feet tall. I relived the memory of painting in this lovely garden.

I painted this during the Ellis County Art Association annual paint out.  A group of vintage campers gathered at Getzendaner Park in Waxahachie. This was during the pre paint out in April.   I was happy to be among such a fun and positive group.
