This was inspired from painting at the Marina on Lake Granbury.  Fall is coming and so are cooler temperatures.  The blue of the lake popping thru the trees were a nice contrast. You can see the texture created with a palette knife and lots of colorful paint.

I created this at the botanical gardens in  Ft. Worth. The color of the blooming flowers around the stream were an eye catcher. It was a great break and chance to get outside when the weather was cool enough.  I am working inside lately with the hot and humid Texas temperatures.

I created this during the Hidden Gardens Tour for the Ft. Worth Historic Society.

I always enjoy painting during the garden tours.  It started off with rain in the morning, but cleared up by noon when the tours began.  I set up quickly and painting in this inspiring garden. The home owner had "still lifes" everywhere.  I was easy to find something to paint.  It was an enjoyable day!

This site for this inspiration was a cabin my husband and I stayed in Colorado.  The cabin was surrounded by Aspen Trees and great distant views.  I was in awe of the natural color and opportunity to paint so close to our home base.  I used field studies and a photo to create this large aspen painting. The early morning light on this grove of Aspens glowed.

Laura lives across the street from my in-laws in Granbury.  While visiting them I noticed her irises blooming. I gathered reference photos and thought about painting this for several years. I'm glad I finally did.
