We drove by this view on the way to William's Creek Reservoir  in Pagosa Springs, Colorado. I made a metal note to return to this gorgeous scene.   I did return the next morning and set up quickly. Soon after it started raining and rained until I couldn't keep things dry. I painted under the back hatch on the car and it worked for a while.  As soon as I shut down and left and arrived back to the cabin, the sun came out!  This painting is available for purchase. This was inspired from a small field study I created on location.  I don't have to drive far from home to find inspiration. There were a row of the cottonwood trees that seem to glow in the morning light.
