I was inspired to paint a sunrise over this lovely field of sunflowers. I had to get up super early to meet my friends and family at the Lake in Benbrook. I have two sisters that live close by and they came to check it out. My great niece, Averi came and did her first plein air piece.  It is a joy to pass on the wonderful experience of painting outside to a loved one.

I created this during the Paint Historic Waxahachie this week. I worked at the gardens at one of the homes on the Gingerbread Tour of homes. They had all types of collectables, including an old packard, an antique motorized bike, this blue tractor and much more. This is a place mat I painted for my husband. I have used hand painted place mats for years and wanted something new. I asked my husband what he would like and he quickly answered TRUCKS.  I wanted the background to be nice and loose and filled with color. It was a fun exercise in combing the realistic look of the truck against an abstract background.

I painted this on the vista overlooking The Sanctuary of San Biagio in Montepulciano, Italy. This chapel was constructed between 1518 and 1545 by local craftsman. It is a work of art and was a joy to paint. We had great weather on this particular day with temperatures in the 80s. It was a great spot picked out by Niki Gulley during her workshop.

This location is about a two minute drive from my house and a spot I have painted from before. I love the distance view of the lake below. This is another study I did from my field trip to the Ft. Worth Botanical gardens. I love the variety of flowers they plant and maintain.  I am motivated to paint spring time subject, because our weather has been spring like. I painted it with a palette knife and lots of colorful paint.

This was created at Pecan Plantation in Granbury. We were standing on an old bridge that has great views of the Brazos River below.  The early morning started out cloudy, but by the time we got here the sun was out and the temperatures were in the high 60's.  It felt great to be outsidepainting again.

My friend Joyce and I were out painting and stopped at this gift shop in Glen Rose.  Jonita the owner was friendly and welcomed us back to paint.  I painted this from a photo after taking pictures that day. The Outdoor Painter's Society is meeting in Glen Rose this Friday and Saturday.
