A frosty early morning at New Mexico's Bosque del Apache National Wildlife Refuge. The snowgeese, swooping and swirling in great flocks over the distant fields, don't seem to mind at all.

Bosque Midday

Mid-November and it's the first day of the Crane Festival at New Mexico's beloved Bosque del Apache National Wildlife Refuge. After spending the morning learning about and observing Sandhill Cranes, I grabbed my lunch — and plein air paint kit — and went and sat beside one of the small bodies of water, attempting to catch its brilliance.
