"Evening Melody" by Kyle Wood

"Evening Melody" 11" x 14" Oil on Canvas

Here is my latest oil painting on my easel. I titled this one "Evening Melody" because of the rhytmatic pattern that is going on in the sky and ground. It seems as though one is playing the melody of a song, while the other is harmonizing. Both are required in order for the song to be full and complete. For this painting, I chose to paint a familiar subject of mine, but with little more drama and mood. I wanted to play with color to see where it would take me. I love how the mixture of the warm red Indian Paintbrushes radiant warmth against the cool Bluebonnets and green grasses in the foreground. Even the sky is very dramatic with rich lavenders, pinks, and oranges against the soft blue sky peeking out behind the clouds. Complimentary colors (red & green; blue and orange) were used to create unity and harmony throughout the painting. Overall, it was fun painting and look forward to painting other variations that play with color.
