When we arrived at the Cedar Creek and Horns Corner farm site, the Fays were just leaving for church, and enthusiastically welcomed us to set up the easel and paint whatever we wanted. They returned home before I finished, so we naturally took the painting to show. They praised my work and invited us into their 1868 house to show me more of their paintings acquired over the years during previous Plein Air Festivals. My view tends to be more "impressionist" than most of the artwork around. I always attempt to tell a story about the site I'm rendering. How the image has fared over the years, it's emotional stance, and so forth. This barn stands proud with its third owner since its homesteading in 1848.
