Sage Bush Glow by Sheri Jones

I painted a small study of this scene recently. It helps to work out the color and design, before going large. I just loved the glow of the sage bush as the sun was setting.  The hillside was filled with the sage bush and nice distant views.

Embracing Fall Colors by Sheri Jones

The sumac shrub thrives in the dry Texas landscape and provides pops of color.  This painting was inspired from a hill top in Glen Rose. The flaming colors of the sumac was calling out to paint me. So happy I did!

I heard him singing before I saw him.  I loved the contrast of his dark figure against the yellows of the cotton wood trees.  I was on a painting trip in Santa Fe during the peak of the fall leaves.

Sweeping Mountain Views by Sheri Jones

Getting lost on the back roads of Pagosa Springs we saw sweeping views of the mountains and warm fall colors. We stopped many times to photograph the beautiful landscape. It was a fun exercise to use those photos once I returned home. Using the palette knife, I built layers of shapes and colors.
