This was inspired by a photo I took in the Willow City Loop area. This is in the Texas Hill Country and a location that is well known for it's wildflowers in the Spring time. I enjoy the flowers, but the low river bank is a lure for me. I am attracted to the path the water makes and this draws me in. I created this with a palette knife and lots of paint. This was created plein air from a location outside Acton Nature Center, Acton, Texas. My painting buddy, Jill Randall went to paint a sunset, but arrived early enough to paint one before. I was attracted to the bright light and deep shadows the late day sun did to the Cedar trees.

Finding a place to park the car and stand with a good view is a challenge. We found an old abandoned restaurant on top of the hill that was perfect for us. This painting is available for purchase.$100.00

I created this from a study I painted at Palo Duro Canyon. This is in the panhandle of Texas outside of Amarillo. Palo Duro Canyon is 120 miles long, up to 20 miles wide, and up to 820 feet deep, making it the United States' second largest canyon.
I had a request from a niece to create a painting for her dorm room. She is from Amarillo and wanted one of the canyon. So Happy Birthday Callie! This one's for you. Love you.

We were taking roads less travelled and enjoyed discovering this backroad creek. This 22 mile loop will take you on one of the most beautiful areas in Texas.
