Recently, I painted with a nationally known oil painter in the mountains of north Georgia, my home state. The weather was gloomy in the mornings but the sun came out in the late afternoon to light this delightful dirt path whose shadows caught my eye. Let's Take A Walk, a small oil landscape painting is a result of this long winding path with a distant range of mountains!

While riding on the streets of Rome, Italy, I spotted the blazing color of the tree , and the colorful flag flying outside what may have been a bedroom window. This is the way many Roman city residents have their being. Something makes me think that inside these walls there is celebration, laughter, and good food to be enjoyed! FRESH OFF THE EASEL....

While on a plein air painting outing, I was searching for a subject that had depth and contrast. This bank of color, the lily pads floating on the water,  and the reflections did "It" for me! Lindenberg Lake II, an oil landscape painting of a North Carolina lake was begun en plein air and completed in my studio. The painting is gallery wrapped so it doesn't require framing!

The idea for "Blue Heron Nature Preserve" , a small oil landscape painting of on canvas came from a plein air outing this summer. Blue Heron Nature Preserve is tucked back in a wooded area on the way to Buckhead, an area outside the city of Atlanta, Georgia. While in this beautiful location, I had focused my attention on the colors in the water's reflections! After getting the basic shapes down while there, the painting was completed here in my studio. I feel that I captured the mood of the scene accurately!

Sometimes I envy the Italian lifestyle as opposed to the sedentary lifestyle of some United States residents! While in Europe, I tend to have more energy and I feel that it must come from the fact that I walk everywhere when visiting! The original watercolor painting titled " A Brisk Walk " is my way of expressing this exhilarating feeling one gets in a beautiful city full of inspiring architecture and meaningful history!

A trip to meet my daughter for lunch off Interstate 20 gifted me with not only time with her but also a unexpected photography opportunity! While the sweet donkey nudged Chrissy through the barbed wire fence, I was able to enjoy the country scenery and several horses on the fenced in property! Having been born in the North Carolina mountains , I get a familiar feeling when I see a barn in the distance. Barns aren't often seen in the city landscape these days, however if you are in the countryside of any state you see the finest displays of this type of structure. As kids growing up in the mountains, the perfect vehicle to travel this type of road surface is a truck.Some of the most fun I ever had were the summer hayrides in the back of a pickup truck! " Going Home", a landscape in oil, is reminiscent of my country childhood experiences!
