New "Symphony in Springtime V" Abstract Wildflower Painting by Niki Gulley

“Symphony in Springtime V" ©2020 Niki Gulley
24" x 24" textured oil painting on wrap around canvas

I wanted to show Texas' spring landscape in a completely different way. Making sure not to over blend my thick strokes so that you could see the marks and feel the energy found in nature. Repeating patterns and waves of color create a harmony within the painting, while rendering the bluebonnets and wildflowers along with their surroundings abstractly plays with taking a traditional subject matter and showing it in a contemporary way. With an aura of mystery, late day light touches the tops of the grasses and hills with glimmers of hope.

New "Symphony in Springtime IV" Abstract Wildflower Painting by Niki Gulley

“Symphony in Springtime IV" ©2020 Niki Gulley
36" x 36" textured oil painting on wrap around canvas

I wanted to show Texas' spring landscape in a completely different way. With an aura of mystery and the promise of what tomorrow holds, late day light sparkles over the horizon casting its warm glow kissing everything it touches with glimmers of hope. The vague suggestion of bluebonnets and colorful wildflowers peek through the dancing golden tangle, leaving the landscape loose and free so that your imagination can tell its story. May you relish the joy in the beauty of nature, bathing in the moment and looking forward to what tomorrow will bring.

New "Symphony in Springtime III" Abstract Wildflower Painting by Niki Gulley

“Symphony in Springtime III" ©2020 Niki Gulley
36" x 36" textured oil painting on wrap around canvas

In this painting, I wanted to capture the rhythm, color, and density of our bluebonnets, Indian Paintbrush and vibrant wildflowers flowing along the grassy rises and falls of the berms in the Texas Hill Country. Making sure not to over blend my thick strokes so that you could see the marks and feel the energy found in nature. Repeating patterns and waves of color create a harmony within the painting, while rendering the blooms and their surroundings abstractly plays with taking a traditional subject matter and showing it in a contemporary way.

New "Red Carpet Ride" Texas Wildflower Painting by Niki Gulley

“Red Carpet Ride" ©2020 Niki Gulley
24" x 36" textured oil painting on wrap around canvas

In this Texas wildflower series, I wanted to capture the excitement and energy felt during a beautiful day in April when the Indian Paintbrush, bluebonnets and wildflowers are painting the horizon in gorgeous shades of reds and blues. Driving through the Hill Country late one day, the sun was just starting to drop, casting this golden hue across all of the wildflowers it hit causing them to glow and dance in the warm light. Deep, long shadows and the abundance of rich crimson Indian Paintbrush added to the drama and magic of the moment. Focusing on the patterns of color and contrast of lights and darks, I wanted to communicate the emotion felt being surrounded by all of this Texas beauty.

KMD2944 Ocotillo by Colorado fine artist Kit Hevron Mahoney (5x7 original oil, Ocotillo, desert, Arizona, landscape, cactus)

As I am reviving my small painting routine it is such a fun journey going through my photo reference of many years. It makes me so grateful for all the amazing places I have been privileged to travel to and experience through the lens of my camera. I lived in Arizona many years ago and became acquainted and enamored with the desert landscape. The Ocotillo is one of my favorite blooming cactus as depicted in this small painting.

5"x7" unframed original oil painting
$125 plus $10 S&H

This little abstract floral landscape was painted after a trip to a local cactus garden.  The brilliant saturated colors of the cacti blooms (Optunia cactus) were so indescribably beautiful and I wanted to paint the edges, shapes and center of the blooms in an abstract way.

  • All my acrylic on paper paintings are painted to the edges.
  • The painting is packaged and shipped in a mat with backing board, protected in a plastic sleeve
  • The matted painting & backing can be popped into a standard 16" x 20" frame.
  • If you wish, this can be 'floated' in a custom frame to show the deckled edges.

Below is a photo, showing how the the matted painting looks in a contemporary frame,  for a
visual on how it looks framed and hung on a wall  ~ the appearance is so enhanced when
you see this in a frame, right? !!

(Frame is not included in price)
