Winter Church Santa Fe by Char Fitzpatrick | Watercolor Landscape

Watercolor and gouache
8"x11"

I enjoy the effect of using gouache on watercolors to "bring back" the whites. It is an opaque, water-based medium and gives a solid feeling to the painting.

Like clouds, water is a changeable and alluring subject to paint. This is a painting from the pier in St Monans, one of the many little fishing villages on the east coast of Scotland.

This is another piece from the series I created for my niece’s wedding. She was married in a lovely place called Bridal Veil in the Columbia River Gorge. I could not pass up the mesmerising serenity of this pond at her wedding site.

This is one of my favorite places on earth. I have spent many happy times here. Dusk is a marvelous vision on the ocean, the colors are intriguing and very difficult to capture.

Early Spring at Artists Nest Falls by Jamie Williams Grossman

7x11", Watercolor and Gouache on Stonehenge Rag Paper
Pricing, Paypal buttons, and additional photos of the scene are posted here.
You can see some of my other landscape work too by clicking here and scrolling down.

This was painted a week or so ago out on location, sitting with my feet in the water on a gorgeous, unseasonably warm, early spring afternoon. My little dog Rondo waded in the water while I painted. It’s hard to know which of us enjoyed it more!
