Leaves..Watercolor..Texas Artist..Rae Andrews

I love to challenge myself with design.

This was 'test' painting in readiness for a workshop I did.

I don't like to pre-draw images for the most part, and instead let my paints run and fold into each other making interesting designs into which I can 'fit' a subject ...

I used Golden Liquid Acrylics with a small squirt bottle to start this one. If one leaves a lot of white and interesting negative shapes, they have a better chance of finding a subject and bring it into focus.

I worked with WATERCOLORS to get the leaf shape, and of course, NEGATIVE PAINTING.

A Wandering..Watercolor..Texas Artist..Rae Andrews

I just finished this one. It's of the river area near my home. I have done several plein air paintings of it.
This one however, I painted in the studio today, from my photograph.

Green on green is beautiful in nature, but in a painting, it tends to be a bit much of the same thing for me.

I usually play with complimentary colors, such as the orange/red family and even some blue/mauve colors as small accents amongst the green.

I hope you like this one. For me, it was very meditative to paint.

This image measures 16" x 20" unframed
$550 plus S/H

Contemporary Southwest Landscape, "Road Trip," by Amy Whitehouse

Inspired by my recent journey across country,
this expressionistic painting emerged when I arrived home.
I painted this in pure pigment oil paint
which gives it the intense vibrancy.
Leaving paint strokes adds life and immediacy
to the artwork.

Of Corpus Contrasts..Pastel..Texas Artist..Rae Andrews

I just finished this one in my cozy studio while the sleet falls outside and the temperatures drop..

Brr... it's cold today. A great day to be painting!

This one is on an Ampersand Pastelboard.

I usually stay away from this kind of support as I prefer one with more 'tooth' to it for my pastels. However, this one worked pretty well for me, so I am glad I persevered.

 Image size is 18" x 24" unframed
$700 Plus S/H

©Barbara Haviland  Barb's Garden 2014
Autumn is done in oils on ca 11"x14" stretched canvas. I did the painting from photos. I love the autumn colors. I did use the palette knife to put texture in the foliage. The painting is signed.

Earth Patterns 2...Watercolor and Liquid Acrylics..Texas Artist ...Rae Andrews

This image is another small abstract done in LIQUID ACRYLICS  and WATERCOLOR.

I hope you are enjoying these excursions from my regular posts, I am having a great deal of fun with them.

Color and design are my pet passions as many of you already know.
I seem to bounce from more realistic imagery to the abstractions. Right now I am in the latter mode.

This one began much the same way as the previous post. No notion of where I was going with it, just allowing myself the creativity of the layering process.
I decided to go with a more 'EARTHY' image, kind of rocky, kind of not.. this time.

This one is 6" x 10" unframed.
$200 Plus S/H

'Field of Dreams' Small Contemporary Landscape Painting on Canvas 6 x 6 inch by Melody Cleary, Oregon Artist

Field of Dreams © Melody Cleary
6 x 6 x 7/8 inch, sides painted soft black.  $80 + shipping.

This small landscape painting packs a punch of color on a small format.  I actually scraped
soft pastels into the canvas on top of some acrylic, then tried to seal it with varnish, which blended the dry pigment a bit.  I went back with acrylic to solidify the design.  Very Wolf Kahn - like, I must say.  Didn't plan it that way, but somehow, we are influenced by art we so admire.

Go to my contact page on my website to inquire.
