Painting Workshop in France With Rae Andrews

Bon Jour  everyone,
I'd like to invite you to join me on  this very special painting trip.
I'm taking a group of artists to paint the beautiful south west of France in May 2017.

I've been so fortunate to be invited to fill one of the spaces for at Le Vieux                                        Couvent a 17th century convent and now a well known Artists Retreat.

It is a fabulous place, renowned for its friendly hospitality ,beautiful gardens , bright airy studio                                           and of course the excellent food.

I cannot rave enough about this venue, it is simply an artist haven!
Every corner of the gardens is a painting vignette.

The village atmosphere is quiet and charming, away from the 'maddening crowds'.

We will get looked after royally, gourmet meals and tours to places for our painting, as well as access to a great studio at the convent.
Their groups of artists always have a wonderful experience, many
of them come again and again and have been very generous with comments.

Please  take a look at the Le Vieux Couvent website to see for yourself.                                                                                  www.levieuxcouvent.com

If you're thinking about joining this painting holiday with me I know you                                                         will have a wonderful time!.

This truly is the last chance you'll have to experience this unique place .After hosting painting holidays for over twenty years the owners feel its almost time to retire. 2017 is sadly the final year for Corinne and Bill as hosts of Le Vieux Couvent. They plan to make this their best year ever.

If this workshop has sparked your interest ,please do let me know right away. I'll send you all the information you need to send a deposit to reserve your spot.

I'm so excited to be planning this trip , do join me ! This is a great opportunity to paint and mix with some like minded artists in PROVENCE, FRANCE!

Take  a moment to read this flyer and don't hesitate to email be if you have questions.

Jimmy Longacre_subjective realist landscape paintings_WORKSHOP_Putting Spontaneity and Improvisation Into Your Painting

I want to mention my upcoming, ONE-DAY PAINTING WORKSHOP in Corpus Christi on Saturday May 31st. We're going to focus on SPONTANEITY AND IMPROVISATION_Putting More Fun In Your Painting!
For more information, visit  http://www.artcentercc.org/

Nothing enhances spontaneity and improvisation like careful planning!  Contradictory as that may sound, having a clear idea of where you want a painting to go, and how you will get there is the key to you having more fun, and learning to paint better.  This workshop will cover essential information and skills necessary for your success in plein air and studio painting.  It is not intended to teach a painting “method”, but to provide the information you need to “play” and grow as a painter in a directed and meaningful manner.

•  You will learn the working principle and huge benefits of using NOTAN sketches to prepare your painting plan.  You will learn how NOTAN can pave the way to a more confident understanding key design and composition principles.

•  After presenting the basic subject matter, which includes the concept and logic of Notan and its relationship to composition, and color, I will demonstrate and answer questions.

•  There will, then, be time for you to paint and receive one-on-one instruction.

I work in oils, but the information is fundamental to all painting media and approaches.  Painting skill is mainly increased by painting.  We tend to do more of what is fun for us, and that is the objective of this workshop.  You having more fun!

The introductory workshop is intended for beginning to intermediate level painters, and is designed for working indoors, from photo reference, so that we can more effectively focus on the concepts and skills. Those interested in making progress in plein air painting skills will find the information we cover to be invaluable.

Day 38, Project 125 Peaceful and Restful oil landscape painting BECKY JOY

© 2014 Becky Joy    Peaceful Respite    oil     6 inches x 6 inches

Today (I always start out that way, don't I).   Hmmm.... gotta mix it up a bit.  Anyway, on with the day. I shipped off my paintings for the Plein Air Artists Colorado Annual Show at Abend Gallery in Denver. The show runs Aug 10 - 31.
Then, it was off to the art store in Scottsdale. I needed some smaller new tubes of paint for traveling on the plane. Some of my tubes were no longer readable, so much better to be safe and have labels clearly marked and full tubes. Then a couple more errand and lunch with my daughter. The afternoon was finally spent painting. This was painted in the studio, a kind of restful, peaceful scene. I think I needed that.
I hope some of you can join me painting in Italy at the Posara Watermill June 7 -14, 2014. Booking from now until Aug 31, 2013 there is a special discount where you can save on the rates. For more information on the workshop click here.
Now, a quiet evening!

Lake Como / Cinque Terre Plein Air Painting Workshop

"Peaceful Harbor," Lake Como, Italy ©2012 Niki Gulley
oil on canvas • 24" x 36"

Lake Como, Italy is probably my favorite spot from all of our travels. The vistas are simply breathtaking with the alps in the background, the gorgeous blue of the lake, the brightly colored unique buildings and the lush foliage dotting the magnificent gardens. I love this little laid back town of Varenna, which is so peaceful that all of your cares just melt away.

If you'd like to join us in Cinque Terre and Lake Como, Italy this Sept. 7th - 16th for our next Plein-Air Painting / Photography Workshop, e-mail Niki Gulley for more information or visit nikigulley.com/artreks. Registration deadline Feb. 17th.
