Journal Entry Southwest France..Watercolor..Texas Artist..Rae Andrews

This journal entry is of  Saint Cirq Lapopie while I was teaching at Le Vieux Couvent. A fascinating medieval cliffside village 300 feet above the River Lot.

We had a wonderful day trip to this village, shopping and meandering through the winding little streets, just full of charming stores and restaurants.

I did not manage to paint there, but did take lots of photos which is where this study came from.

I will be teaching again at Le Vieux Couvent in July 2019.

It’s a wonderful place to stay and expose yourself to the peace and charm of the Southwest France region.

Journal Entry..Watercolor..Texas Artist...Rae Andrews

Well I am finally posting a few images from my journals . I know it's been ages, sorry for my lapse in posts.

I taught a workshop this year in Southwest France in the Dordogne region, and then 6 weeks later, I taught another workshop in the French Alps.
Both were superb workshops, wonderful students and great fun!

here are some images I did during each workshop and some later in my studio at home. I hope you enjoy them as much as I love painting them.

This one is from the trip in May in the Dordogne area of southwest France. This was a day excursion for photo ops and painting.
We stayed at Le Vieux Couvent.. A simply wonderful venue and I am teaching there again (third time now) in July of 2019.

Another from this same trip. A marvelous small village near the convent where we stay. So many painting opportunities.

Just on the street where we stayed. I had fun with this one..

I bought a new journal, an 8" x 10" format. I quite like this larger size, when opened to use both pages, it measures 10" x 16", perfect.

Thanks for visiting...
Please stay tuned for more journal entries and news on my upcoming overseas workshops.

"Reflective Radiance" textured oil painting of Monet's Garden by Niki Gulley

SOLD • "Reflective Radiance" ©2018 Niki Gulley
Two 48" x 18" canvases with one 48" x 30" canvas in the middle to form a 48" x 66" triptych
Textured oil painting on wrap around canvas

Just Sold! I decided it would be a fun challenge to create an extremely large painting, and I wanted the final piece to be very uplifting, colorful and full of energy. Opting for warm colors and working with extremely thick paint and palette knives, I chose this lily pond reference from our visit to Monet's Gardens in Giverny, France. The grounds were breathtaking and I could actually see his paintings come to life. I was drawn to the energetic flow and yet calming serenity in this view, and I positioned the water lilies and my paint strokes in a curving pattern to add to that mood. The morning light peeking through the distant foliage added to a sense of mystery and promise that I wanted to capture in paint, and share with you that feeling of hope.

New Online Bin Art

ONLINE ART MARKET: New Items
BIN ART $200 and less.
It is so gratifying to have my paintings find new homes.
I have so many new ideas to explore and your purchases are helping me clear out the studio and have my artwork enjoyed and appreciated.
Here are 4 more paintings just added to my web ONLINE ART MARKET bin art.
These are not only paintings but also memories of the wonderful times I had finding and photographing the subjects to express on canvas.
How lucky am I to have found this career and my partners at Brushstrokes to share this world of creativity.

The pink poppies are from our Denver Botanic Gardens, the Flatirons are, of course, Boulder. The other landscapes were painted after an amazing trip to France which has a plethora of inspiration to paint!

In 18 days, I'll be in Southern France at Le Vieux Couvent to teach my first French workshop! I'm a bit excited. I keep finding myself floating through rooms and spaces, imagining aperitifs, midnight church bells out my blue shuttered, open bedroom windows, creme brûlée, gelato, shopping in the ancient markets of Soulliac.... The dream come true bucket list just goes on and on!

I'm incredibly honored to be sharing this experience with students in two classes, back to back, and a fun little side trip to Paris right smack dab in the middle. Students from Ireland, Canada, Australia, and across the US are converging for the Great French Escape! I will share all my favorite photos with you on my Facebook fan page, so stay tuned, flower friends! My absolute fondest wish is that you will take this journey with me someday. KMD2996 Night Vendor by Denver Colorado artist Kit Hevron Mahoney (6x6 oil, France, Aix en Provence, urban oil painting)

I have not posted in months!!!! Between commissions, the holidays and just wanting to take a break from my painting life I have let my posting fall by the wayside. I am back now and setting a goal to post once or twice a week. This scene was found while traveling in France quite a few years ago. It has been in my folder of favorite images that I have set aside to paint for quite some time. We were looking for a place to have dinner when I came across this scene as the sun was setting and evening setting in. The scene drew me in immediately as the hush of evening comes on. 6"x6" original oil unframed $125 + $10 shipping and handling See more paintings on my blog Visit my website Daily Painters of Colorado
