Poppies still remain one of my most favorite flowers to paint. I came across these on an early morning walk last month with my dog Farley who impatiently waited as I photographed them. (He has much different preferences on our walks!) There is nothing more invigorating than the cool, fresh spring and summer mornings with dew on all the new flowers and the abundance of new life everywhere. Shadowed Stroll..Landscape..Pastels...Rae Andrews

Well here is the finished painting. 
I am happy with it, but of course as most artists, I find areas I could have done better. Oh well, back to the studio.. 
I do love this surface of Kitty Wallis paper.. 
I did not use any watermedia underneath this, it's all pastel.

Lake Water Reflections oil landscape painting by BECKY JOY

Painted in Colorado near Vail. I was attracted to the clear water and seeing bottom of the lake and reflections. It's nice how the reddish muddy bottom contrasts with the greens of the surrounding banks.
