Lake Sam Rayburn Colors.Pastel...Texas Artist... Rae Andrews

I have just returned from a fabulous few days at my buddy's lake house on Lake Sam Rayburn in southeast Texas.

Thanks Vicki, for having us all!

Wow! The morning and afternoon walks with my puppies were delightful, and the scenery was superb, so expect more beachscapes from me in the future.

This one is a long elongated format, a favorite of mine on which to paint.

It is done in pastels on Sennelier paper.
8" x 19.6" unframed.

$200 plus S/H

Prints are also available through Fine Art America:

Florida Landscape Paintng | Daily Painting | Small Oil Painting | Dance of the Wavesby Carol Schiff | 6x8" Palette Knife Painting | SOLD

SOLD

I don't really understand what it is about water that makes our blood pressure drop, why it is so appealing  to most everyone.

During the hot, steamy summer months, I often wonder why we live in Florida, but this time of the year, there is no doubt.

Paint me a picture of the landscape.
Dance me the dance of the waves.
Sing me of the legends of the river.
Tell me the story of the sky.

After The Rain..Pastel Landscape..Texas Artist..Rae Andrews

I have been just edging my way through some old demos half finished, and this one was a test to my 'gentle side' of painting. :))

I usually love bold and dramatic colors as you know,so this high key painting was a discipline for me.

I think I like it, and might do more in this vein.

The scene is here in Austin. I was on a walk with the puppies on the greenbelt in Lakeway, and we had just gotten caught in a small rain shower. The colors on the water were so romantic and soft. I knew I would have to paint it.
This image is in pastels on sanded paper and is 11.5" x 15.5" (unframed)

$150 plus S/H

Prints also available at Fine Art America:

Coconut Shadows..Pastel..Semi Abstracted...Texas Artist..Rae Andrews

Believe it or not this used to be horses. I decided I could do better, so I wiped it with alcohol and a rag and then splashed acrylics over the surface. The surface is a large Ampersand board by the way.

After my surface had dried, I worked my image into and over the marks, quite a challenge, but I think by now you all know how I love to challenge myself.

The photo reference was one I took on my recent trip to Maui.

This was great fun to do, although it took a while.

The size of this one is 24" x 36" unframed on board.

$450 plus S/H

Rising Heat... Landscape...Pastel...Texas Artist...Rae Andrews

Today I decided to get the old pastels out again for a while, so don't be surprised if you start seeing more posts such as this one.

This is actually an Australian landscape I took a photo of years ago, I think it was somewhere near Yass?

I taught workshops for years in the country areas of Australia, and this is a typical scene a lot of my Aussie followers will identify with.

I of course love to embellish my colors, and this image is no exception. However it is pretty close to the actual photo I took..

I have to admit (though) my sky is very much embellished, fun to sculpt the clouds, especially in pastels.

Enjoy..

This image is unframed.
It is  a 12.5" x 19.5" pastel on sanded paper.
