The iris has always been a favorite flower of mine, but the ones that will grow in Florida are not to spectacular. The ones we have here are not the big, beautiful, bearded iris that the more northern states have. Ours are little puny flowers. I always look forward to visiting our mountain home in North Carolina, as one of the first things I did when we bought it, was plant all those lovely flowers from my childhood. Daffodils, iris, tulips, lilac, cone flowers, and lots and lots of hydrangea. I have not been able to go up so far this spring, but we are planning a trip soon. I hope there are still some daffodils and lilac blooming. But if they are gone, I know the iris will soon be there to greet me. What is your favorite flower?

Grasses..Pastel..Texas Artist..Rae Andrews
I am on a roll now with DUSTING. It works so well on very textured surface, but beware, you can overdo this technique.
Here is the above image with additional DUSTING.
I LOVE this technique!
I had this odd off cut of paper, and have no idea what it was though. It's a dark maroon color and is sanded. Any ideas?
Anyway, I had mounted it onto some archival foam core a few years ago so why not use it?
The format is quite elongated and poses problems or should I say, challenges to the artist, composition wise.
I chose to do just tall brambles and grasses, really playing with the various textures.
I used an alcohol wash under painting in parts, let it dry and then worked the pastels over the top.
I don't usually do this technique of underneath washes, but this paper took the wet media so why not?
I hope you like it.
This image is 8" x 22" unframed.
$300 plus S/H

Perfect Walk..Pastels..Texas Artist..Rae Andrews
Just finished this one. Sooo cozy in my studio with all the rain we are having, perfect to paint!
The scene is one I took a photo of while on my morning walk in Austin. I love this greenbelt area, so much to see. Of course I tend to romanticize my colors.
In actual fact they were all pretty green on the actual day, so this is with the 'Rae' touch. :))
This is a pastel on Sennelier sanded paper and is unframed

Heavily textured Landscape "Rugged Territory" by Sally Fraser
RUGGED TERRITORY BY SALLY FRASER
Abstracted with the use of a palette knife. A palette knife comes in all sizes and shapes and the use depends on what part of the painting calls for certain applications. It is a fun and loose way to paint. Acrylic dries fast and the artist must be sure of a stroke. 17 x13 in an old thin walnut frame which I sanded and stained.

Large urban wall art design in purple. "Lost In a Big Pond of Purple"
LOST IN A BIG POND OF PURPLE by Sally Fraser MIXED MEDIA
Many days, many colors and many layers later, this acrylic mixed media painting on canvas took shape . The size is 36 x24 and can hang in any direction. A colorful purple painting with a lot of texture. Could hang without a frame. Lost in a Big Pond of Purple has an urban design feel and a great decorators touch.

Spanish Garden Pathway..Watercolor Landscape..Texas Artist..Rae Andrews
I decided to get back to my roots so to speak and do a few watercolors. This one is the first in a while.
I have missed this medium. As with many artists who paint in all media, sometimes some of them get left in the dust. I have been doing a lot of pastels lately too as you might all know.
I think I am due for a change.
Stay tuned for more new images. For now, anyway..:))
Image size is 8" x 14" unframed.
This painting is $150 plus S/H.

Coconut Shadows..Pastel..Semi Abstracted...Texas Artist..Rae Andrews
Believe it or not this used to be horses. I decided I could do better, so I wiped it with alcohol and a rag and then splashed acrylics over the surface. The surface is a large Ampersand board by the way.
After my surface had dried, I worked my image into and over the marks, quite a challenge, but I think by now you all know how I love to challenge myself.
The photo reference was one I took on my recent trip to Maui.
This was great fun to do, although it took a while.
The size of this one is 24" x 36" unframed on board.
$450 plus S/H

Storm Over Ayershire by Char Fitzpatrick | Scotland Landscape | Seascape

watercolor, gouache highlights
The weather changed very quickly while I did the first watercolor of this scene. I was frozen to the bone, but determined to capture the brooding mood as the clouds swept over like black locomotives in this, the second painting.

SCULPTURED MOUNTAINS by Texas Artist Sally Fraser International Landscape Artist
SCUPTURED MOUNTAINS by Texas Artist Sally Fraser 14 x 11 Oil
Abstract mountain scene done with a palette knife. Originally, this oil painting
had different colors . I reworked a more abstract feel and used dominant lavender
blues with a sharp citrus green. The discovery of playing with colors and shapes ,
using buttery oils on a canvas and pushing till I am satisfied is a fine thing.
