Grasses..Pastel..Texas Artist..Rae Andrews

I am on a roll now with DUSTING. It works so well on very textured surface, but beware, you can overdo this technique.
Here is the above image with additional DUSTING.
 I LOVE this technique!

I had this odd off cut of paper, and have no idea what it was though. It's a dark maroon color and is sanded. Any ideas?

Anyway, I had mounted it onto some archival foam core a few years ago so why not use it?

The format is quite elongated and poses problems or should I say, challenges to the artist, composition wise.

I chose to do just tall brambles and grasses, really playing with the various textures.
I used an alcohol wash under painting in parts, let it dry and then worked the pastels over the top.

I don't usually do this technique of underneath washes, but this paper took the wet media so why not?

I hope you like it.

This image is 8" x 22" unframed.
$300 plus S/H

Sun Dipped..Watercolor Landscape..Texas Artist...Rae Andrews

I really like this long format on which to paint. It makes the painting less predictable for me.

Spanish Garden Pathway..Watercolor Landscape..Texas Artist..Rae Andrews

I decided to get back to my roots so to speak and do a few watercolors. This one is the first in a while.
I have missed this medium. As with many artists who paint in all media, sometimes some of them get left in the dust. I have been doing a lot of pastels lately too as you might all know.

I think I am due for a change.
Stay tuned for more new images. For now, anyway..:))

Image size is 8" x 14" unframed.
This painting is $150 plus S/H.

Valley Vantage Point...Landscape...Acrylic...Texas Artist...Rae Andrews

This one is completely 'doodled' on the IPad first. I turned a few old paintings upside down, just to use the colors for this one.. I work in several layers in the Sketch Club app, and then when I am happy I flatten them.. Voila.. I have a new creation!

It's such a fun way to get a start on a painting.

Out of the mess came this.

I find this very relaxing while I watch TV at might, just work out some compositions from which I might paint the next day.

This image is 8" x 8" unframed painting and is on an Ampersand Museum board. I quite like these surfaces, they have that tooth I was mentioning in my last post. Something for my paint to grab.

$120 Plus S/H

Convergence...Landscape...Acrylic...Texas Artist...Rae Andrews

Here is another SKY SCAPE done in acrylics on stretched canvas.

I am enjoying this genre.. It's fun to mold and sculpt the sky. When I get that in place, I add a very simple landscape area, in this case, a sand bank and mountain area.

This one is an 8" x 10" image.

$160 plus S/H

Zig Zag Shadows..Abstract Landscape..Acrylic...Texas Artist...Rae Andrews

This one is another in what seems to be becoming a series of URBAN LIFE.

I am still working on these textured boards, which are a lot of fun with the acrylics.
I plan all of these with bits and pieces from my photos, a composite..

I work the whole thing on my IPad first, to get ideas of colors and designs.

This image is unframed and is 8" x 10"

$180 inc.S/H within the contiguous USA.

Prints of this image also available through Fine Art America:
